Miscanthus is an all natural grass that is grown in Missouri and Arkansas (see picture below). Miscanthus is grain free, gluten free, all natural, non-GMO, mechanically processed without chemicals and not a byproduct. It's formal name is Miscanthus Giganteus and it originates from Asia. Miscanthus Giganteus is a C4 perennial grass that can grow 15 feet tall annually. The picture above shows what Miscanthus looks like when it's growing.
Miscanthus is great for animals because it is high in dietary fiber. Just like humans, the animals we care for need fiber to help aid in digestion of food. However, they do not have access to natural high fiber sources. Miscanthus has around 85% dietary fiber making it a superior alternative to other fiber sources. If grains have been taken out of your pet's diets and they are mainly eating raw meat based, chances are that the diet does not have enough fiber and needs miscanthus to help their intestines function properly.
Prebiotics are compounds in food that induce the growth or activity of beneficial microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi. The most common example is in the gastrointestinal tract, where prebiotics can alter the composition of organisms in the gut microbiome.
Probiotics are live microorganisms intended to provide health benefits when consumed, generally by improving or restoring the gut flora. Animals are full of bacteria, both good and bad. Probiotics are often called "good" or "helpful" bacteria because they help keep your dog's gut healthy.
Enzymes are specialized proteins that are responsible for thousands of important functions in the body. One of their most important jobs is to break down and absorb nutrients from food.
If your dog is on antibiotics or any other medication, please discuss with your veterinarian first. That said, the prebiotics and probiotics in Perfect Poop can help restore your dog's healthy gut flora after taking antibiotics.
